Hollow & Harvest: Celebrating Mabon with Candlelight

As the wheel of the year turns, the Autumn Equinox — known as Mabon — arrives in balance. Day and night stand equal, reminding us of the dance between light and shadow, abundance and release. It is a time of gratitude for the year’s harvest and a sacred pause before the descent into winter. At Moonlit Grove, we created Hollow & Harvest, a signature scent, to capture this liminal season — grounding, spiced, and alive with the memory of earth.

🍂 The Essence of Mabon
Mabon is a celebration of harvest, hearth, and home. It invites us to reflect on what we have gathered, both physically and spiritually, and to honor the cycles of death and rebirth that echo through the natural world. The scent of Hollow & Harvest reflects this balance:

  • Fresh green leaf and mossy pumpkin recall the last lushness of summer and the first stirrings of autumn.
  • Clove, cinnamon, and ginger rise with warmth, like a hearth fire glowing in the cooling air.
  • Cedarwood, oakmoss, and patchouli ground the blend in the steady rhythm of the earth, carrying us into the dark half of the year.

Crystals of Balance & Renewal
Each Hollow & Harvest candle is infused with crystals that mirror the Equinox:

  • Smoky Quartz — protection, release, and grounded clarity as we let go of what no longer serves.
  • Green Aventurine — renewal, balance, and heart-centered abundance, opening us to new cycles of growth.

Together, they embody Mabon’s gift: the wisdom to release the old while welcoming the new.

A Simple Mabon Ritual with Hollow & Harvest
You don’t need anything elaborate to honor this turning of the year — only your candle, a quiet space, and an open heart.

  1. Prepare Your Space
Place your Hollow & Harvest candle at the center of your altar, windowsill, or table. Add seasonal offerings if you wish — an apple, a handful of nuts or seeds, or a small bowl of grains.
  2. Gratitude List
On one piece of paper, write down what you are most grateful for from this past season. Hold it to your heart before placing it under the candle.
  3. Release List
On another paper, write what you are ready to let go of — habits, fears, or burdens. When ready, burn it safely in a fireproof dish, or bury it outdoors beneath autumn leaves.
  4. Light the Candle
As the flame flickers, breathe deeply. Imagine balance flowing through you: the steadiness of the earth beneath your feet, the warmth of fire in your spirit, the harmony of day and night.
  5. Close in Stillness
Sit for a few moments in quiet reflection. When you extinguish the candle, carry its energy with you as you step into the waning year.

Mabon is both an ending and a beginning — a threshold moment where we honor the fruits of our labor and prepare to rest, restore, and renew. Hollow & Harvest was crafted as a companion for this very season, carrying the scents of earth, spice, and balance into your home. May Hollow & Harvest be a flame of balance and gratitude in your home this Equinox. reminding you that in every letting go, there is also space for new abundance.
