FAQ’s
Question: What kind of wax do you use in your products?
Answer: We use Coconut Apricot wax blend for our candles, and we use CocoSol (a blend of coconut, soy and sunflower waxes) for our wax melts and wax sachets. Our fire starters may have a combination of both wax blends, as we use leftovers to make those to remain eco-conscious and therefore eliminate any waste.
Question: What are the benefits of using Coconut Apricot wax and CocoSol wax blends?
Answer: These wax blends are cruelty free, leave a low carbon footprint, renewable, vegan, clean burning, biodegradable, natural, have excellent hot throw and longer burn times. These wax blends are non-toxic, as they do not contain any phthalates, parabens, or formaldehyde and they are free from carcinogens, mutagens, and reproductive toxins.
Question: How are your candles and wax melts produced?
Answer: Our products are all hand poured in small batches. There may be some slight variations due to this. However, each batch is tested prior to release for market. Candle and wax melt testing are done in an average room size. For best results use in the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, or office.
Question: Do the wicks you use contain zinc or lead?
Answer: No – The wicks we use are lead and zinc-free, coreless made of cotton threads woven with paper, and coated with a thin layer of natural wax.
Question: When it says Essential Oil in the candle name, what does that mean?
Answer: Only essential oils are used to scent that candle. Essential oils are pure liquids containing aroma compounds that are removed from the natural materials of plants like seeds, flowers, leaves, roots, and stems or bark of plants through methods like steam distillation, expression (like cold pressing), or extraction. Essential oils harness the distinctive essence, or scent, of the plant it was made from.
Question: If Essential Oil is not mentioned in the candle name, does that mean no essential oils are used in that fragrance?
Answer: No – Fragrance oils used in our candles and wax melts are a combination of natural essential oils, synthetic aroma chemicals, solvents, and diluents. The fragrance oils also contain natural components like essential oils, but they are considered synthetic. Fragrance oils do not contain any phthalates, parabens, or formaldehyde and avoid other hazardous chemicals. The fragrance oils we use are also considered vegan and cruelty free.
Question: What is the IFRA?
Answer: The IFRA (International Fragrance Association) periodically makes changes to its standards and regulations to reflect new understandings of the different ingredients that make up fragrances. The IFRA Standards are a set of rules and regulations for the use of fragrance materials, and a baseline for the industry.
Question: Do your fragrances comply with IFRA standards?
Answer: Yes – The fragrance oils used in making our products are all manufactured according to IFRA standards including the most recent guidance from the 51st amendment that was updated in July of 2023. All fragrance oils used do not contain any phthalates, parabens, or formaldehyde and avoid toxins, and other hazardous chemicals. And are considered vegan and cruelty free.
Question: Do any of your products contain chemicals that are listed on the California Proposition 65 List?
Answer: No – Everything that goes into making our products are carefully selected and do not contain anything that is on the California Proposition 65 List.
Question: What is the California Proposition 65 List?
Answer: The list contains a wide range of naturally occurring and synthetic chemicals that are listed for cancer or reproductive harm, or both. For more information on this list, you can visit the State of California’s OEHHA site: https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65/proposition-65-list
Question: Are the products you sell safe for pets?
Answer: Scents commonly known to avoid for both dogs and cats are cinnamon, eucalyptus, pennyroyal, pine, sweet birch (aka black birch), tea tree (melaleuca) and wintergreen. In addition to the scents previously mentioned, scents commonly known to also avoid for cats are citrus, clove, peppermint and ylang ylang. Refer to our Scent Index with Top, Middle and Base notes to understand fragrance compositions. Fragrances noted with either 🐶 or 🐱 generally indicate they are safe for dogs and/or cats. Fragrances with 🚫 are not deemed pet safe.
NOTE: The information provided on fragrance safety is meant as a general guide with regards to scents that are known to not be good for dogs and cats and is based on information from sources found online. Just as people have individual sensitivities, pets—especially dogs and cats—may also have allergies or sensitivities to certain fragrances. We encourage pet owners to use caution when selecting scents and to consider the unique needs of their pets. If you’re unsure about a particular fragrance, we recommend using products only in areas where your pets will not have access. Always observe your pets for any signs of discomfort, and when in doubt, consult your veterinarian.
